Blue Reads Event: Tour of Skirball Exhibit inspired by HALF THE SKY and book discussion!

Inspired by the bestselling book Half the Sky, the Skirball Cultural Center's groundbreaking exhibition "Women Hold Up Half the Sky" addresses the oppression of women worldwide as the human rights cause of our time—and boldly asserts that change is possible, and it can happen quickly.

We will start with a special tour of the exhibition by a Skirball docent with behind-the-scenes info provided by a member of the core exhibition team, Skirball VP of Education Sheri Bernstein (Yale '87), and follow with a group discussion of the book.

More about Half The Sky: With Pulitzer Prize winners Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn as our guides, we undertake an odyssey through Africa and Asia to meet the extraordinary women struggling there. Drawing on the breadth of their combined reporting experience, Kristof and WuDunn depict our world with anger, sadness, clarity, and ultimately, hope. They show how a little help can transform the lives of women and girls abroad. Deeply felt, pragmatic, and inspirational, Half the Sky is essential reading for every global citizen.
