Join artist/curator Paula Tin Nyo, ’84 Trumbull and chair of Jacaranda Music, Thomas Aujero Small, ’82 Calhoun, for a benefit concert celebrating an exposition of new painting from Myanmar. Acclaimed violinist Alyssa Park, the Lyris Quartet, and renowned soloists will perform British music that Lord Mountbatten of Burma would have heard at the time of Burma’s colonial independence from England.
This artwork has only recently been seen outside of its country, and never before in the Western US. Paula Tin Nyo was born in Burma, only able to return after the democratic reform that renamed her country, Myanmar. “It is a fairy tale to return to a country one left as a child. It is a waking dream to reunite...” Selected pieces from the travelling exhibition: Fresh Shipment of “Young Bloods”: The New Generation, will be on display in a residence designed to host chamber music, by Yale architect Whitney Sander.
