[Non-YCLA Event] Dartmouth invites us to Echo Mountain Hike

Echo Mountain Hike
Date: Sunday, November 15th
Time: 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Place: Sam Merrill Trailhead in Altadena
3399 N. Lake Avenue, 91001
Cost: Free for Everyone

Echo Mountain is one of the few moderate-difficulty hikes in L.A. that delivers the same spectacular views offered by the L.A. hikes with super-challenging difficulty levels.  On a clear day, you can see all the way to Mt. San Jacinto in San Bernadino to the east, and all the way to Catalina Island to the southwest!

Site of Thaddeus Lowe's famous mountain railroad hotel at the turn of the 19th century.  Sadly, the resort burned down in the early 1900s, but the remnants of the hotel and cog railroad make for an excellent perch to take in the view of L.A. County today!

DIFFICULTY:  6 miles round-trip.  1400 feet of elevation gain.  Moderate for experienced hikers; somewhat challenging for beginning hikers.

DOGS:  Dogs are permitted on this trail.

RSVP: If you'd like to come click here to RSVP.  Be sure to RSVP if you're coming.
