Overview

Join Yale GALA for a unique adventure featuring Cuba's cultural riches and LGBT community! Experience Cuba's vibrant arts scene through encounters with leading artists, filmmakers, dancers, and musicians. Explore LGBT spaces like La Rampa, Havana's gayest street; Mi Cayito beach; and the malecón, Havana's wall along the sea. Meet prominent LGBT and allied Cubans who will help us understand the local community's progress and ongoing challenges. And celebrate Cuba's annual Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia with the local community. Professors George Chauncey and Ron Gregg will provide insight into LGBT Cuba's history and how recent films reflect this rapidly changing society.
