Yale Serves: Help Prepare Meals for Unhoused Women in Los Angeles
Volunteer Opportunity at the Downtown Women’s Center

Join your fellow Yale alumni at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles to help prepare a meal for women living on the streets of Skid Row. The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) relies on volunteer organizations for most of its needs. Each month, the DWC prepares a healthy, nutritious meal that is served the next day for lunch to 150 or more women on the streets of Skid Row.

No experience necessary: Some of their best volunteers have never chopped an onion before. It’s a fun way to work in a commercial kitchen, see the inside of this fantastic shelter and transitional living facility, and learn the myriad ways the DWC advocates for and serves unhoused women.

There’s gated parking. The DWC asks its fellow cooks to contribute $20 and two hours; they do the shopping.
The event will start with a private tour of the Center from 6:00 - 6:30pm, followed by two hours of meal preparation.
Event date: Tuesday April 5th
Time: 6:00 - 6:30pm: Private Tour of Facilities (Optional)
6:30 - 8:30pm: Meal Preparation
Event location: Downtown Women’s Center
442 S San Pedro St Los Angeles, CA 90013
Pricing: Volunteer: $20 donation for food supplies.

Please email Jill here if you have any questions or RSVP on the day of the event!
