Inter-Ivy Event: Naked Lunch: The Musical with Private Reception

Featuring an all star cast from Yale Class of 1966

In 1965, the Beat Generation was put on trial, and now that trial is on stage as a musical!  Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Norman Mailer, and William Burroughs strut their stuff to defend free speech, free thinking, and free love.  It’s a song-strewn courtroom comedy called “Naked Lunch: The Musical.”  Publishers, prosecutors, professors, and poets step down from the witness stand to attack or defend Burroughs’ novel, Naked Lunch. They deliver their testimony in a musical panoply that ranges from Bach to Broadway, from rock to tango.

The cast features standout L.A. performers Chris Bonno and Colleen Villard, professional opera singer Joanna Ceciliani, and nine members of the Yale Class of 1966, recreating their original roles from the New Haven opening in June.  For two nights only, this send-up of America’s last big obscenity prosecution will be presented at The Electric Lodge Theater in Venice on Thursday, October 20th and Saturday, October 22nd at 8:00pm.

Price: $25.00, available now on EventBrite.
